This post is SO overdue! I don’t think I’ve done a Q&A in almost a year!! And what better day for an ask anything post than during a blizzard?! So after receiving questions from instagram, Facebook and snapchat, I’m answering!! So many thoughtful questions and sentiments…and so DIFFERENT than the normal photog questions! This is my favorite Q&A to-date!! Let’s get started!!

Q + A

B U S I N E S S

Do you have a favorite wedding you’ve shot?

Nope! 🙂 All of my weddings have been so beautiful different from one to the next, so I love them all on different levels!!

How many photos do you take in a year?

Math is my weakness…so thanks so a genius friend and a calculator, it’s estimated that I take about 300,000 photos a year (good LORD my shooting finger gets a workout!!)

Have you ever gotten hurt at a wedding?

Knock on wood, nothing awful!! I’ve been cut, bruised and banged up while working but thankfully no massive injuries!! I’m extra careful and I DON’T, for any reason, ever walk backwards!

Where do you dream of shooting?

Greece, Scotland, anywhere “vast”…preferably with lots of mountains and glow!

How much did you make at your first wedding, ever?

I charged $800 and at the time I thought it was too much!

Where is your office? Is it a studio?

I’m SO lucky to have space in my house to have a true home office! It’s not a studio, although I do meet my clients here often! I love the comfort of having my desktop and files all right here in my home. No commuting necessary!

What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you at a wedding?

I once had a groom’s nana ask me (and then actually grab me!) to dance with her at the reception!! Oh my gosh, I love that sweet lady!! She had better moves than I did.

What would you be if you weren’t a photographer?

I think I would love to be an interior designer or a genealogist. I love projects and more than anything, I love helping people…both would make me so happy!!

Have you ever cried at a wedding?

Yes! I love getting to know my couples’ love stories and part of that is actually experiencing their wedding day with them…I get super emotional!

What’s something you don’t like about what you do?

There aren’t many things I don’t like about this career!! I guess the stress that comes when things don’t go as planned is something I could live without. But it’s manageable and if there’s a solution, I go for it!

Will you always be a photographer or will you do something else later in life?

I hope I’ll be doing this until I retire! I’m not sure what I would do if I decided to hang up my camera bag…but you never know!

P E R S O N A L

How old are you?

I’m just a month shy of spry 27!

Do you have any phobias?

I don’t like deep water so being on boats gives me goosebumps!

What was your proudest moment?

When I became the first female firetruck driver in my firehouse. I’ll never forget that moment.

Are you addicted to anything?

I LOVE hot peppers! I could eat them everyday.

Who will shoot your wedding?

We’ll just have to see 😉

You’ve posted about your ankle before. What happened to it?

2 years ago I rolled it while jumping out of a firetruck. The damage was so bad! 2 surgeries later, I’m more comfortable but I still struggle with chronic pain. Still grateful to be able to do my job!

What’s the most inspiring thing you’ve ever seen?

This sounds weird but when I was little, I was at a museum and saw a seahorse try for forever to help another seahorse that had gotten stuck…and it worked! I always remind myself that if two little seahorses can be so thoughtful and selfless, people have no excuse!!

If you could live anywhere else, where would you pick?

London!

Do you have any siblings?

I am SO lucky to have a big sister who I consider my twin…we’re very similar. We were both even born at exactly 12:37pm!

Have you ever been in love?

Yes.
